Qualification Entry requirements 2013
European Baccalaureate Pass in Diploma of at least 60% including at least 1 Science subject
GCSE Applicants will also need to have a minimum grade C pass in English and Mathematics at GCSE O level (or equivalent)
UCAS tariff points 260-300 points
GCE A level 260-300 points Geography preferred but not essential
GCE A level double award 260-300 points including a Science
BTEC National Diploma 260-300 points e.g. DMM including a Science
BTEC Higher National Diploma Possible entry to year 3
Foundation Degree Possible entry to year 3
Scottish Highers 260-300 points including appropriate Science subjects
Irish Leaving Certificate 260-300 points from Higher Level including a Science subject
International Baccalaureate 30 points with at least 1 science subject from Group 4

Accreditation for Prior Experiential Learning (APEL)

We welcome applications from students who may not have formal/traditional entry criteria but who have relevant experience or the ability to pursue the course successfully.

The Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL) process could help you to make your work and life experience count. The APL process can be used for entry onto courses or to give you exemptions from parts of your course.

Two forms of APL may be used for entry: the Accreditation of Prior Certificated Learning (APCL) or the Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL).

English Language Requirements

International applicants will be required to show a proficiency in English. An IELTS score of 6.0 (no element below 5.5) is proof of this.

Applicant profile

We welcome those coming from school or college, with, or without, A level in Geography with interests in geography and a passion for fieldwork.  We also welcome those returning to education, either with Access qualifications or by taking the foundation year.  International students are also welcome.
