The aim of the module is to provide students with a theoretical and practical introduction to Accounting,  This module will help students understand the fundamentals of basic accounting methods.  It will introduce students to the production of financial statements for decision making in various organizational structures.

This module will provide an insight into the distinct contribution of Human Resource Management policy and practice to employee and organisational performance and success within a UK and international comparative context.  It will help students develop an understanding of the interrelationship between the dynamic nature of social relationships within a range of organisations, the broader external environment, and the effective management of human resources and employment relations

The aim of this module is to introduce students to key concepts in modern economics, in particular the functioning of markets as the foundation of contemporary economies;  It will present an overview of the main microeconomic principles of economic behaviour and the main concepts within macroeconomics, and to explore the relationship between these microeconomic principles and macroeconomic concepts.

This module will introduce students to the purposes and objectives of business organisations and their stakeholders.  It will explore the role of the accountant in global business operations and  introduce the legal aspects of the work of the accountant in the global business environment.  Students will consider the role of the accountant in contributing to the efficient and effective development of an organisation and its people and systems.

It will enable students to apply marketing principles to real life marketing situations.

This module explores the theories and practices of financial reporting by listed companies, with particular reference to the role of International Financial Reporting Standards.   It considers the application of financial reporting principles by listed global companies and illustrates the impact of International Financial Reporting Standards and the Conceptual Framework.

Students will consider the development of the theories of accounting and investigate the regulatory environment for International Financial Reporting and corporate governance.  Students will be able to explore the different global influences on the development of Financial Reporting and the International Accounting Standards and will be able to demonstrate the need to comply with the Accounting Bodies’ professional Code of Ethics.

This module introduces present-day costing techniques and their uses in the contemporary manufacturing and business environment.  It explores the use of management accounting information for decision making and performance measurement; it introduce current issues in information technology together with a theoretical evaluation of the process of developing and implementing accounting information systems.

This module promotes the student’s understanding of management accounting information, tools and techniques and to explore the significance of techniques to internal business functions.  It will promote the development of students' practical skills using accounting specific ICT packages and further consider the use of information technology in supporting the activities of the accountant and the management within an organization.

Building on the embedded skills developed during level 4 of the programme the module aims to enable the student to plan and carry out appropriate professional development activities to increase employability and performance, including self presentation, professional networking, project planning and implementation, team working, influencing and multimedia communication. The module aims to equip the student with the experience required to position themselves in the global employment marketplace.

This module evaluates the UK taxation system and its place in the global environment. It appraises core areas of taxation related to business and evaluates the taxation situation of sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.

This module demonstrates the concepts of finance such as raising capital, capital markets, the capital structure of firms and to evaluate the external global financial environment in which firms operate.  It introduces the concept of risk management, investment decisions, financing decisions and asset management decisions and their related risk/return trade offs.  This module also evaluates the processes of mergers and takeovers and analyses the risks in international finance , including foreign exchange, foreign trade and investment risks, and techniques used to manage such risks.

This module develops students ability to evaluate and analyse the financial control processes of a business. It develops students ability to evaluate alternative mechanisms to deliver information to management for control and decision making purposes.

The module demonstrates the centrality of management accounting information to effective global business control  and develops an understanding of the management accountants role in sustainability.

This module further develops students knowledge and application of the Conceptual Framework and theories which are presented as approaches to International Financial Reporting.  It further develops students’ ability to prepare, appraise, evaluate and report on company financial statements in an International context.

This module evaluates and appraises the role of the Professional Auditor in the UK.  It considers and evaluates the professional audit processes and reflects on the  impact of the global business environment on the work of the Professional Auditor.

This module develops advanced skills and professional judgement in analysing and evaluating the specific responsibility of the accountant in relation to ethics, sustainability, innovation , internal control , governance, compliance and risk management in a range of international accounting environments.  It also evaluates the Governance, Risk and Ethics’s role in internal control, review and compliance and the role of the accountant in identifying and mitigating assessing risk.
