This course builds on the strong reputation of the success and expertise of staff in the school. It is designed around block delivery and the ‘virtual studio’ and a strong interdisciplinary ethos.
The course will enable you to develop your knowledge and understanding of the scope of digital technologies and their intersection with fashion practices to a high level along with an advanced, professional ability to utilise technology and its development creatively in the context of fashion.
The intensive block delivery will give you the opportunity to engage with a range of expert lecturers, tutors and industry specialists and to work in an interdisciplinary way with students from other pathways on the Fashion Innovation course.
Course details
MA/PgDip Fashion Innovation: Digital develops students as expert professional practitioners and creative and critical thinkers in the context of fashion. Graduates from the course will be able to respond to emerging demands and developments and to lead innovation in the sector. The course aims to:
- Develop advanced, critical understanding of research methods in the context of fashion and to understand how the boundaries of knowledge are advanced through research
- Establish an environment where learners can explore and deepen their understanding of fashion innovation, particularly through the course’s online virtual studio
- Develop an advanced knowledge of the relevant past, present and/or future practices in fashion, with an advanced understanding of key concepts in the context of culture, creativity and innovation
- Critically explore at an advanced level the interdisciplinary practice of fashion and the development of new concepts, emerging methodologies, ethical practices, sustainability and commercial strategies
- Establish intellectual debate and make original propositions in the context of fashion and the way in which these can be articulated and disseminated
The course consists of three 60 credit modules, each of which is contained within a semester. The modules will be delivered through blended learning with an intensive block of delivery over six - seven days at MediaCityUK and other appropriate venues, supported through the virtual studio.
