This course provides the opportunity to develop and demonstrate your understanding of international event management. This is achieved in a variety of classroom-based and field-based work, providing you with the opportunity to analyse and evaluate your current competences and develop long-term strategies.
You will be taught by specialists from the fields of events management, strategic international business management, operations and information management, and project management and procurement.
A variety of teaching, learning and assessment methods are employed and you will participate in a variety of tasks as an individual and as part of a group. You are able to choose your own focus and tailor this course to suit your own interests.

Semester 1
Strategic International Business Management - 30 credits
Gain a thorough grounding in the major issues and perspectives of international strategic business management. You will be encouraged to think strategically about management issues within the context of your course and in your future career.
You’ll also get an overview of key issues and decisions relating to the legal, human resource, social and ethical responsibilities of corporate management.

Operations and Information Management - 30 credits
Gain an understanding of different types of operations, information systems and business approaches along with knowledge of concepts, techniques and models used for planning, managing and improving operations and management information systems in a global context.

Project Risk and Procurement - 30 credits
Gain the skills and knowledge to manage the probability and consequences of positive events and minimise the impact of adverse events on project outcomes. You will also gain useful insights into the management of procurement processes in project environments.

Principles and Practices of International Events - 30 credits
You will develop an appreciation of the concept, range, significance, roles, dimensions and characteristics of contemporary events within both UK and international contexts, with an understanding of why and how events and social/cultural, economic/tourism, political and physical environments interact with each other. You'll gain an understanding of the need for an effective and efficient events strategy to ensure the success of an event.

Semester 3
Business Innovation Project
Choose one from:
- Six Month Work Placement: an integrated period of work-based learning in a suitable organisation, as agreed by Salford Business School
- Assessed Internship: a one-to-three month monitored work or service/volunteer experience agreed by Salford Business School, in which you will have specified learning goals and will need to actively reflect on what is being learned throughout the experience
- Live Project: work as part of a team on a project provided by a UK or international business organisation. The allocation of teams and responsibilities will be dependent on the type of organisation
- Dissertation: a conventional dissertation of 12,000 to 15,000 words, consisting of research question, aims and objectives, rationale for undertaking the study, literature review, research methodology, analysis of findings, conclusions and recommendations
