English Study Programme

This is a full-time English language course for international students with elementary level English and above. It is designed to improve your skills in reading, writing, listening and speaking and has a specific focus on grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation. If you already have an intermediate level of English, you will also develop your academic English skills.
You will gain experience of studying at a university in the UK, and studying on this course will also help you to settle into a different culture and a different language before you start an academic course at the University of Salford or at any other university in the UK.
If you successfully complete the English Study Programme at a high enough level, the University of Salford will accept this as evidence of your English language ability. At the end of the course we will give you a report which will give a clear indication of your language level. You can show this to the admissions tutor of your chosen course at the University of Salford.
Course details
When you arrive you will be given a test and placed in a group of students with a similar language level. There are normally three different levels: elementary, pre-intermediate and intermediate plus. Each level has a different combination of classes.
Course Structure
You will have 20 academic hours of English classes each week. You will also be expected to do homework and open learning in the Language Resource Centre.
