Small group teaching remains at the heart of our learning and teaching ethos. For some modules, tutorials containing a maximum of 10 students meet regularly throughout the year for informal discussion. Teaching is delivered through a combination of:
- Tutorials (up to 10 students)
- Seminars (12 - 20 students)
- Lectures (up to 150 students)
- and where appropriate through the use of interactive computer resources.
We place emphasis on the acquisition of individual transferable skills as well as the development of knowledge and skills important to academic practice.
Assessment
You will be assessed through a combination of exams and coursework such as essays, presentations and portfolios. Most modules incorporate some form of diagnostic assessment in order to allow you to identify your strengths and weaknesses prior to undertaking your final exam or essay. Exact proportions will vary according to your option module choices: some modules are assessed entirely by coursework, others are a combination of coursework and exam. You may also choose to do a dissertation.
