The aim of this course is to offer graduates an appropriate opportunity to specialise in the development of software systems that use databases and are web-based. The course aims to provide students with:

  • A systematic understanding and a critical awareness of the methodologies, tools and techniques used for the development of web-based computer systems
  • An advanced understanding of the techniques for the development, evaluation and testing of databases
  • An awareness of the latest development in the field of databases, data mining and data warehousing
  • A systematic understanding of the application of web-based technology in diverse areas
  • A comprehensive and critical understanding of appropriate research methodologies and professional practices
  • An ability to communicate, work independently and as part of a team, at a level expected by a professional
  • MSc students also undertake an individual project.
