Accreditation for Prior Experiential Learning (APEL)
We welcome applications from students who may not have formal/traditional entry criteria but who have relevant experience or the ability to pursue the course successfully.
The Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL) process could help you to make your work and life experience count. The APL process can be used for entry onto courses or to give you exemptions from parts of your course.
Two forms of APL may be used for entry: the Accreditation of Prior Certificated Learning (APCL) or the Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL).
English Language Requirements
International students must provide evidence of proficiency in English- IELTS 6.5 band score (with no element below 5.5) as proof of this.

The course is suitable for emerging writers, recent graduates or more experienced writers who are keen to develop their career as a professional playwright.
Applicant profile
You should have a strong interest in playwriting which should be demonstrable via the submission of creative work. Typically, you will want to work as a professional playwright and will value the opportunity to learn from three of the UK’s leading theatres on the UK’s first formally industry-partnered MA in Playwriting. You might have recently graduated or you might be a more experienced writer looking to develop your career. Over the duration of the course, you will be keen to learn from the three theatres and from industry professionals and to forge a professional career in the theatre and writing industries. If you are shortlisted, you will have the opportunity to be interviewed by members of the three theatres and/or University of Salford as part of the selection process.
