- Part-time study available
This course runs part-time for half a day per week over three years, or full- time for two half days per week
Depending on your level of experience and professional interests you can choose to study a variety of modules. If students are seeking accreditation they are advised to study in the following order.
Part Time route
Year 1, Semester 1:
Introduction to Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (30 credits)
Develop a comprehensive understanding of the theory and practical application of CBT, together with the critical evaluation of its use in addiction and associated depression and anxiety disorders.

Year 1, Semester 2:
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for Anxiety Disorders and Addictive Behaviour (30 credits)
Assess treatment methods for clients with anxiety disorders and/or addictive behaviour, and use a conceptualisation methodology to evaluate courses of therapy.

Year 2, Semester 1:
Frontiers of Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy (30 credits)
Gain a theoretical and evidence-based introduction to new developments in Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy and develop CBT skills for the practical application of working with clients.

Year 2, Semester 2:
One module from:
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Physical Health (30 credits)
Gain a theoretical and evidence-based introduction to using CBT with clients who have physical health conditions and those who require chronic disease self-management.

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for Complex Cases (30 credits)
Develop and enhance your skills in the use of CBT, enabling you to work with clients with complex and/or long-term needs.

Family Interventions (30 credits)
Explore family interventions and its implementation in mental health care.

Psychosocial Interventions (30 credits)
Enhance your knowledge, skills and interpersonal awareness in order to provide brief psychosocial interventions.

Mindfulness based approaches with CBT (30 credits)
Explore your practice of mindfulness with the context of CBT

CBT for children and young people (30 credits)
Enhance your knowledge, skills and interpersonal awareness in order to provide CBT for Children and Young people.

Enhance your knowledge and skills of clinical supervision.

Dissertation (30 credits)

This course also runs full-time for two half days per week over one year, giving you the chance to exit with the following awards:
Full-time
Masters: two modules in semester 1, two modules in semester 2 and the dissertation in semester 3.

Clinical supervision (30 credits)

You will be required to use CBT within your work/voluntary placement setting and you will need to access CBT supervision for at least one hour per month.
