  • 2.1 honours degree in psychology or other health/social care related discipline
  • or an honours degree (in any discipline, 2.2 or above) and a diploma in Counselling or its UKCP or BPS equivalent
  • In addition, applicants are required to be currently working/volunteering in health care practice either as a counsellor/psychotherapist or in a health/social care related discipline
  • You will also be required to use CBT skills within their work/voluntary placement setting and will need to access a minimum of one client and 20 hours supervised practice.

Accreditation for Prior Experiential Learning (APEL)

We welcome applications from students who may not have formal/traditional entry criteria but who have relevant experience or the ability to pursue the course successfully.

The Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL) process could help you to make your work and life experience count. The APL process can be used for entry onto courses or to give you exemptions from parts of your course.

Two forms of APL may be used for entry: the Accreditation of Prior Certificated Learning (APCL) or the Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL).

English Language Requirements

International applicants will be required to show a proficiency in English. An IELTS score of 6.0 (no element below 5.5) is proof of this.

Suitable For

This course is aimed at a wide range of health care professionals including podiatrists, occupational therapists, counsellors, psychotherapists, psychological therapists and other suitably qualified professionals who work therapeutically, to implement CBT into their practice at an introductory level.

Applicant profile

You will have a degree qualification in a health and social care related discipline. You will be interested in supplementing your therapeutic work with CBT skills and you should have access to clients/patients where you can practice your CBT skills whilst on the course.
