Good undergraduate degree (2:1 or above) in related subject (for example Physiotherapy, Podiatry, Prosthetics and Orthotics, Medicine, Mechanical, Biomechanical or Biomedical Engineering).
Access to gait analysis system, ability to make measurements on healthy subjects and access to clinical gait data for learning purposes.
Access to internet and sufficient information technology to support distance learning activities. Good information literacy (for e-mail, word-processing, data manipulation and basic operation of clinical gait analysis software).
Accreditation for Prior Experiential Learning (APEL)
We welcome applications from students who may not have formal/traditional entry criteria but who have relevant experience or the ability to pursue the course successfully.
The Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL) process could help you to make your work and life experience count. The APL process can be used for entry onto courses or to give you exemptions from parts of your course.
Two forms of APL may be used for entry: the Accreditation of Prior Certificated Learning (APCL) or the Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL).
English Language Requirements
International students must provide evidence of proficiency in English - IELTS 6.5 band score or a score of TOEFL at 575 or above (232 computer based) with a TWE of 4.0 or above are proof of this.
Suitable For
The course is designed for professionals working in clinical gait analysis services with either a technical or clinical background. It is expected that most students will come with support from their employers who will be actively encouraged to participate.
Applicant profile
Most students will already work within a clinical gait analysis facility and have a desire to broaden and deepen their knowledge. We are particularly interested in encouraging students with a clinical or technical background who wish to develop complementary skills to be able to take full responsibility for the entire gait analysis process.
Students will be computer literate and willing to engage with a range of software and hardware for clinical data capture and interpretation and for collaborative distance learning.
