This course is designed to equip you with the business knowledge and skills needed in today's global economy and provides a general business education that will prepare students for a wide variety of managerial careers.
It will prepare you for a variety of employment opportunities in major areas of business. A carefully designed and employer-supported management development programme runs through the first two years of your degree.
This course allows you to either specialise or follow an integrated route and the modular design gives you considerable choice.
Provides a foundation in business disciplines necessary to support the subjects studied in the second and final year. Students from a wide variety of education backgrounds are taught subjects to a common standard during this first year. This allows us to accept students without specific subject requirements.
The second year focus is on the management of business operations and functional areas; this will develop and deepen your understanding of the subjects in which you choose to specialise. You will take modules relating to core areas of management and continue to enhance your management skills as the course unfolds. You may also continue to study a language.
You can confirm your original choice of degree or change to any of the other degrees in the suite. You may wish to study a range of modules covering a number of major management functions.
Year 1 – Level 4
Principles of Accounting
The aim of the module is to provide students with a theoretical and practical introduction to Accounting, This module will help students understand the fundamentals of basic accounting methods. It will introduce students to the production of financial statements for decision makers in various organizational structures.

This module will provide an insight into the distinct contribution of Human Resource Management policy and practice to employee and organisational performance and success within a UK and international comparative context. It will help students develop an understanding of the interrelationship between the dynamic nature of social relationships within a range of organisations, the broader external environment, and the effective management of human resources and employment relations

Principles of Economics
The aim of this module is to introduce students to key concepts in modern economics, in particular the functioning of markets as the foundation of contemporary economies; It will present an overview of the main microeconomic principles of economic behaviour and the main concepts within macroeconomics, and to explore the relationship between these microeconomic principles and macroeconomic concepts.

This module aims to provide an introduction to key foundational aspects of the theory and practice of marketing, which are essential to the long term prosperity of organisations and applicable to all specialisations within business. It will enable students to apply marketing principles to real life marketing situations.

Business Statistics
This module enables students to present, evaluate and interpret quantitative data in order to develop a capacity for making business decisions. It will introduce students to the mathematical prerequisites for developing lines of argument and making sound judgements It will help students to develop an awareness of established mathematical and statistical techniques to initiate and undertake critical analysis of information and propose appropriate solutions to business problems.

Year 2 – Level 5
Organisational Behaviour
Students will gain an insight into the uses of an interdisciplinary behavioural science approach to aid human resource management, performance and comparison within and between UK and international organisations. The module focuses on developing an understanding of interrelationships and behavioural manifestations at three levels of analysis within organisations: individual, group and organisational, whilst exploring the dynamic nature of personal, social and professional relationships within a broad range of business, public and voluntary organisations and the broader international external environment.

Project Management
This module will help students to develop knowledge and critical understanding of the principles of effective project management within a global business context and the ways in which these principles have developed. It will help to facilitate and understanding of project management skills techniques, methods and tools and their application and limitations.

Professional Development
Building on the embedded skills developed during level 4 of the programme the module aims to enable the student to plan and carry out appropriate professional development activities to increase employability and performance, including self presentation, professional networking, project planning and implementation, team working, influencing and multimedia communication. The module aims to equip the student with the experience required to position themselves in the global employment marketplace.

Law in a Business Context
This module introduces students to the operation of legal systems in the global business context and the areas of law that underpin the practice of effective business management. Students will develop a working knowledge of the law relating to contracts in different business contexts and their effective negotiation.

This module will develop a student’s ability to initiate, implement, review and appraise management objectives and decisions within the context of a dynamic, competitive market environment. Optional Year
On completion of year 2 you may choose to undertake either a paid placement, or study abroad for a year. If you choose to study abroad you will spend your academic year at one of our partner universities, enhancing your language skills and international business knowledge.
Year 3 – Level 6
Applied Business Research and Analysis
This module aims to develop students’ understanding of the secondary sources and primary research methodologies available to solve business problems. In particular, it aims to develop the knowledge and skills required to evaluate published business research and consultancy in relation to its methodology and findings and to prepare viable proposals for future research/consultancy.

Student’s will acquire an organization-wide perspective through exploring strategy techniques and processes within the global environment. The module prepares students for a career in business and management and to develop the next generation manager. It allow students to apply the knowledge and understanding of strategy to a variety of real-world organisations and helps students ability to deploy accurately established techniques of analysis and enquiry, some of which are at the forefront of strategic research and practice.

Employment Relations
This module provides a broad and comprehensive understanding of the way in which the employment relationship is experienced, regulated and contested within a variety of contrasting organisations (business, public and voluntary) in both a UK and international comparative context. It provides an insight into the roles, interests, objectives and viewpoints of the different actors involved (including government. employers, managers, employees, trade unions, and the state), and the interpersonal and organisational processes and outcomes of the employment relationship.

This module provides a broad outline of the core principles that underpin individual and collective UK employment law. It offers ‘real-life’ practical case study examples about the implementation of employment law within the workplace, derived from research-informed evidence and engagement with a range of external HRM / employment law agencies. It gives students an understanding of complex statutory employment provisions through comparing with the broader external context, from a National, European and Global perspective and helps them acquire the requisite knowledge, understanding and skills to be the prime advisor on employment law in the workplace.

This module analyses key concepts, theories and models in employee resourcing, employee development and talent management. It critically assesses the research evidence for propositions and assertions in this field and develops an understanding of the links between employer branding, recruitment, selection, talent management and organizational effectiveness in a global context. It looks at the key methods and techniques available for recruitment and selection and talent identification and management, including designing job descriptions and person specifications, internet recruitment and testing, and evidence for their reliability, validity and effectiveness in a global context.
