‘The benefits of studying at Salford University are simple! Salford Business School provided me with the right tools and opportunities to prepare myself for a career in strategic sports management; as well as the right education, knowledge and understanding to last me throughout my career. Without the experience of studying at Salford University I can guarantee I would not be in the position I am in now.’
Craig Abel (2007 Graduate).
Volunteer Development Officer, Manchester Leisure
'As a mature student going back to study was a daunting prospect, however I needn't have worried and my decision was quickly accepted as the correct one. In the three years I learnt so much, while the highlight had to be my work placement which gave me exposure, confidence and vital contacts within the industry.’
Industry Links
All students will be encouraged to take part in the 12 month period of professional experience. This will give you an opportunity to apply the skills, knowledge and understanding gained in the first two years of the course in a real working environment. You will be required to make a decision on this option during your second year.
Placements can be arranged in a large variety of organisations, including those involved in commerce, industry and the non-profit sector. Salford Business School has established strong links with such organisations, many of whom place a high value on our students. In addition to the work placement, you may also undertake a number of occupational modules that will enable you to develop skills required for the workplace. For example, specific occupational skills relevant to the vocational pathway will be developed and assessed in modules such as Event Planning and Development, Sports Leadership, Sports Development, Sport Psychology and Sport and Social issues.
