Assessment

Assessment is by a combination of written examinations, oral presentations, coursework, laboratory reports and submission of the dissertation.

Research and Analytical Methods (30 credits)                     

Summative Assessment: One literature review and presentation (50%) / exam (50%).  

Formative assessment: a series of tutorials incorporated into the lectures. Also, a current separation science workshop/coursework and tutorial/assignments will be used to assist with teaching and learning

Molecular Biology and Proteomics (30 credits)     

Summative assessment: Lab portfolio (50%) / Exam (50%)

Formative assessment: Bioinformatics and other online tests / case studies  

Medical Biotechnology (30 credits)     

Summative Assessment: Lab portfolio (50%) / Exam (50%)

Formative Assessment: online tests through the virtual learning environment to support revision for exams.  

Plant Biotechnology (30 credits)     

Summative Assessment: Lab portfolio (50%) / Exam (50%)

Formative Assessment: online tests available through the virtual learning environment to support revision for exams.    

Research Project/Dissertation (60 credits)    

Summative assessment: Presentation (25%) / dissertation (75%)
