Career Prospects
If you are already employed in a microbiological field, your academic qualifications will be enhanced which should improve your promotion prospects or allow you to move to other positions. Nationally, more than 50% of employers in this sector have commented on a shortage of skilled labour.

The course has attracted students from different companies in the pharmaceutical industry, cosmetics industry, environmental health, confectionary industry, water industry and the National Health Service. Some industries such as the cosmetics industry require employees who work in the microbiological testing labs to have a recognisable qualification during auditing and accreditation.
The water industries recognise this qualification as a means of working in the microbiology labs.
