If you are already employed in a microbiology-related field, then this Foundation degree is designed as a vocational qualification which will help to develop your work-based skills and enhance your academic development.
You will learn about core knowledge and skills in applied aspects of microbiology.
You can obtain your Foundation degree at St Helens College through work-based experience and then have the option of continuing to an Honours degree based at the University of Salford.
Course details
This Foundation degree has been produced in response to the needs of this sector of industry, in which skilled labour is known to be in short supply. This is a apart time two year taught course, with attendance being one day per week. Year 1 is on a Thursday and year 2 on a Wednesday.
If you successfully complete the Foundation degree (year 2) you will be eligible to progress to year 3 of the BSc (Hons) Applied Bioscience degree course at the University of Salford, after taking a bridging programme during the summer break. You will need to study further, either for one year full-time or two years part-time to gain the BSc(Hons) degree.
