Computer Networking and Telecommunications

Computer Networking student at the School of Computing, Science and Engineering, University of Salford

Computer Networks and Telecommunications offers an undergraduate degree in Computer Networks for students who want to become computer networking and telecommunications professionals such as network engineers and information systems managers. We also offer a postgraduate degree in Data Telecommunications Networks for students who want to study the field in more depth. Previous graduates from this programme have gone on to work for UK companies such as TalkTalk, Analysis Mason and overseas companies such as Global Aerospace Logistics.

The University of Salford is a Cisco Partner - our undergraduate BSc (Hons) Computer Networks is linked to the University's Cisco Networking Academy, so you can take professional examinations alongside your regular degree studies.

Our undergraduate and postgraduate courses are both taught partially at MediaCityUK.

Research and PhD

Our research and doctoral programme encompasses computer networking technologies, wireless systems, networked multimedia applications, quality of service, mobile networking, intelligent buildings, context driven information systems and communication protocols. Much of this research work is funded through research grants and supported by industry.

Members of the Computer Networks and Telecommunications area are actively involved in a range of public engagement programmes which aim to raise the awareness of these subjects for the general public and in schools.
