Computer Networking and Telecommunications

We offer an undergraduate degree in Computer Networks for students who want to become computer networking and telecommunications professionals, working in roles such as network engineers and information systems managers. 

Salford has strong computing industry connections and we advocate real-world learning. As an approved Network Academy Centre, delivering professional Cisco Certified Network Associate course materials, students will have the opportunity to become CCNA certified, further enhancing their career prospects.

Research and PhD

Our research and doctoral programme encompasses computer networking technologies, wireless systems, networked multimedia applications, quality of service, mobile networking, intelligent buildings, context driven information systems and communication protocols. Much of this research work is funded through research grants and supported by industry.

Members of the Computer Networks and Telecommunications area are actively involved in a range of public engagement programmes which aim to raise the awareness of these subjects for the general public and in schools.
