Biography
I graduated in Mathematics from University of Warwick.
After short spells in operational research and project management, I joined the County Engineers Department of Merseyside County Council to work in the research and analysis section, focusing on traffic analysis and road safety studies.
I left Merseyside to take on the post of lecturer at the University of Salford in 1985. I became programme leader for the MSc in Transport Engineering and Planning in 1992 and was promoted to senior lecturer in 1996.
I contributed to the development of the transport profession at national and regional level including being Chair of the NW region of CIHT 2005-2006.
I acted as external examiner to MSc programmes (at Leeds and Southbank) and for research PhDs.
