Commuting to University

Many of our students commute into university rather than staying in accommodation and this year we’re introducing some new commuter hubs to give our travelling students a place for some downtime between classes. Whether you want solo study space, space to socialise, somewhere to leave your stuff or somewhere to grab some food, the commuter hubs are designed to meet your needs. Find our more about the life of a commuter student by reading our Student Blogger Emma’s Q&A with daily commuters, Eve and Aya.

We’re ideally placed for public transport links, with Salford Crescent train station right on campus. There are regular bus routes along the Crescent into Manchester and it’s only a 20 minute walk into the city centre.

There's a Metrolink tram stop right outside our MediaCityUK campus building, and students can use their Salford ID cards to travel for free on the 50 bus between main campus and MediaCityUK.

If you intend to drive and would like to get a car parking pass, students have the option to purchase an annual session from the online shop or to register with PayByPhone for daily or monthly parking. Our Estates website has more information available about parking for students.

Disabled students who are blue badge holders and require the use of a motor vehicle to enable them to travel to and from the University are exempt from any fee. You must display your blue badge clearly on your vehicle.
