University of Salford Manchester

Knowledge transfer

The University has developed an enviable reputation of applying our research to solve real-world problems through knowledge and technology transfer which provides solutions to meet the needs of business and industry.

We can match you and your business to students and academics and work to develop specific projects that will drive your business forward.

Knowledge Transfer Partnerships

A Knowledge Transfer Partnership is a collaboration between academics, companies that need their expertise and graduates recruited to work on projects central to the needs of the business. Together, they devise and manage a 12-36 month project, which is of strategic importance to the company, is intellectually challenging and is of business relevance to the academic. A highly skilled graduate known as a KTP Associate is then recruited to deliver the project on a day-to-day basis.

Collaborative research

We will work with you to develop research solutions that address your needs. Your business can benefit from access to world-class research facilities and internationally accredited researchers who are leaders in their field.

University of Salford Enterprises Ltd is the home of our diverse portfolio of spin-in and spin-out companies.

A spin-in business is an existing company, often external, that has reached a point where it needs additional support and decides to become part of the University’s portfolio in order to access that.

The University welcomes approaches from industry to explore joint venture opportunities or to discuss investment in our portfolio of existing companies.
