Knowledge Transfer Partnerships

A Knowledge Transfer Partnership is a collaboration between academics, companies that need their expertise and graduates recruited to work on projects central to the needs of the business. Together, they devise and manage a 12-36 month project, which is of strategic importance to the company, is intellectually challenging and is of business relevance to the academic. A highly skilled graduate known as a KTP Associate is then recruited to deliver the project on a day-to-day basis.

University of Salford Enterprises Ltd is the home of our diverse portfolio of spin-in and spin-out companies.

A spin-in business is an existing company, often external, that has reached a point where it needs additional support and decides to become part of the University’s portfolio in order to access that. A spin-out business is one that usually originates from academics or students which has real commercial promise.

The University welcomes approaches from students, academics and industry to explore joint venture opportunities or to discuss investment in our portfolio of existing companies.
