Never worked with the University of Salford before? Up to £5,000 of free consultancy available.

Small and medium-sized companies can apply for an Innovation Voucher worth up to £5,000 from the Technology Strategy Board which can then be used buy in specialist advice and help from the University.  The aim is to stimulate and support innovation in your company.  To be eligible for this funding,

  • Your company must be a small or medium sized enterprise (up to 250 employees and £50m turnover);
  • You have not worked with us before; and
  • You are working in one of the priority sectors of Agrifood, Built Environment; Open Data, or Energy, water and waste.

The application process is online, through the Technology Strategy Board website. Applications can be made at anytime with around 100 vouchers awarded every 3 months in January, April, July and October each year.  If you need assistance with an application please contact us.  

The Technology Strategy Board spends over £300m annually supporting industry based research and innovation and in addition to Innovation Vouchers also offers a number of other grants.  The ‘Smart’ award scheme offers up to £250,000 to support a range of activities required to bring a product to market including assessment of market viability, production of prototypes, demonstration projects and IP management.  The scheme is open to SMEs and can pay up to 60% of eligible costs. 

From time to time the Technology Strategy Board also runs grant funding competitions against specific themes.  These are open to all types of organizations but must be business led collaborative bids with the grant covering 50% of eligible project costs (60% for SMEs).
