Live Student Projects

Live student projects offer a unique opportunity for any organisation to co-operate with Salford Business School. Undergraduate students provide a business consultancy service to participating organisations to help them with a real-life business problem. Sharing your business problem helps to develop our students' business service skills in a real life context.

Live projects have been an important way for Salford Business School to forge partnerships with industry, commerce and public sector organisations, and we have been successfully running the scheme since 1986. We are preparing future leaders to successfully solve real world business problems in a way that brings benefit for all of those involved.

Your main contribution is to provide a meaningful context for the students' learning experience on a non-critical business problem. You may also wish to be a Prize Sponsor – providing a reward to recognise outstanding student performance.

What are typical Live Projects?

Typical projects are not time critical, and are usually equivalent to between three and six months work of a business or systems analyst.

Each team of approximately 7 students works on a real life, open-ended project developed in consultation with a client and under academic guidance from the University. The projects run for 6 months from September through to May.

Some of our previous clients include Salford City College, Breast Cancer Care, Lightning Spares, Moore Accountancy, Oriana Gifts, NHS North West, PD Investment, Co-operatives Financial Services, and iCord.
