The Employability Hub helps undergraduates find opportunities for their placement year and helps postgraduates find internships, placements and live projects for their Business Innovation Project. Our dedicated Employability officers will work with you to prepare you for the world of work. Our team will work with you to help you gain the skills and experiences which will make you stand out from the crowd.
The Employability Hub is here to support and signpost you to all the employability activities across the wider University. Our SBS Employability Hub complements the wide range of activities offered to you by our Careers & Employability service.
Where is the Employability Hub located?
The Employability Hub is located on the first floor reception of Lady Hale Building. Lady Hale Building is located at number 14 on your University map.
Why you should do work experience during your studies?
Work experience complements your academic achievement on your CV, practical/ live projects allow you to apply the knowledge you’ve gained, and engaging with a business develops your professional network.
How do internships and placements work?
Students and the company benefit from internships and placements: students can apply what they have learnt on their course in a real-world professional setting, while the organisation receives expert assistance.
Why do an internship/placement during my studies?
Salford graduates who complete either a postgraduate live project/internship/placement or an undergraduate one year placement have higher marks than average, broader experience, and much better employment prospects. Some students go on to secure a graduate position with the company where they have done their placement.
How do I find an internship/placement?
Employability Hub will post all internship and placement opportunities on Advantage and/or Blackboard. You can also approach employers yourself, which the Employability Hub can help you with to achieve greater results.
Where can I work?
Students can work anywhere in the world. A large number of projects are based in Greater Manchester, however there are some projects that are UK-wide or international.
What support do we provide?
Students are provided extensive support in the application process for all internship and placements opportunities. A variety of workshops and appointments, which can be booked via Advantage, are run by the Employability Team in Salford Business School and the Careers and Employability team in Student Life. We also provide drop in sessions for SBS students on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 12:00pm - 2:00pm. You can also make one-to-one appointments with our Employability Officers.
