Mooting at Salford

What is “mooting”?

"Mooting is a mock court hearing. It is the oral presentation of a legal issue against an opposing student in a mock trial. It brings the closest experience to would-be lawyers of appearing in court.

Moots brings an opportunity to develop and showcase a variety of skills. Students will improve on their ability to speak in public, to think on their feet, and about how to construct the best oral argument. But more generally it focuses students on delivering arguments which are the most persuasive. It will refine their legal argumentation skills."
Nicolas Kang-Riou, Law Lecturer
