Before joining Salford, I had previously been a lecturer at the Universities of Oxford and Warwick. Beyond my current teaching specialisms within macroeconomics, I am a member of the Centre for Sports Business Research within Salford Business School and an Associate Director of Recruitment and Retention, a role within the admissions process that I had previously been involved with at Oxford (Modern History & Economics degree).
1st year: Organisations, Markets and Economy
2nd year: Macroeconomics; European Business Environment
3rd year: Domestic and International Money; Strategy and Risk
Within the fields of economic history, sports economics and research methods at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
Current PhD supervision:
Three students who theses are in the fields of bank regulation, sovereign and bank default, and the economics of football.
19th & 20th century economic history, with particular reference to France and the UK
Economics of sport, with particular reference to football and golf
I am currently supervising doctoral students on the following topics: unemployment and fiscal policy; the economics of the mortgage market; bank regulation and performance; the application of cost-benefit analysis to vocational rehabilitation services. I would be particularly interested in supervising future doctoral students in the areas of: (i) macroeconomics; and (ii) sports economics.
