I am Lecturer in People Management and currently hold the role of Link Tutor for the professional CIPD accredited courses.
My background is generalist HRM with a particular interest and specialism in TUPE, and I have worked across the private and public sector organisations. My industry experience included extensive TUPE activities, ER, managing tribunal cases, high volume recruitment and selection and learning and development.
Following my MSc in Human Resource Management, I am currently working towards my Doctorate which is exploring the role of social media in the recruitment process.
Part of the teaching team responsible for the design and delivery of the CIPD accredited Graduate Certificate in Human Resources. I have developed the core material for the following modules, Human Resource Policy and Practice (module leader), and Developing the Human Resource.
- HR Policy and Practice
- Developing the Human Resource
- Principles of HRM
- Professional Development
In the final stages of my doctoral research, my PhD is concerned with exploring the role of social media in recruitment within the HRM context. The research examines the nature and extent to which social media is being utilised for recruitment purposes, probing how extensive it is, who carries it out, what platforms are accessed, what information is sought, how is it collated, to what use the information is put, how organisations justify their practice, and what consequences there are of such practices. There is a relative paucity of research outputs in relation to the use of social networking media in the HRM context and as such, I intend to broaden the scope of my research profile to include examining use of social media as a vehicle for employee voice and its use for knowledge sharing and learning and development activities within organisations.
