Biography

Professor Crotty started her career as a graduate trainee at PriceWaterhouseCoopers where she travelled extensively in the Former Soviet Union. On completing her training she then moved to the University of Nottingham to study for a Ph.D. examining pollution control in Russian Manufacturing Enterprises. Following the completion of her Ph.D. she joined the University of Liverpool Management School as a Lecturer in Business with a special responsibility for programme development. During this period she won a British Academy Grant to examine the impact of Russian environmental groups on regulatory and business behaviour. She then moved to Aston Business School in Birmingham as a lecturer and subsequently senior lecturer in Strategy. During this period she won an ESCR grant looking at corporate citizenship in the Russian Federation. She then joined Salford Business School as Professor of Strategy and Corporate Social Responsibility in June 2010. In September 2011 she became the Salford MBA Director and in September 2012 became the Head of the newly formed International Strategy and People Management Unit within Salford Business School.

Research Interests

My research interests lie in examining state-business-society relations primarily in transition and latterly developing countries with a specific focus on environmental sustainability and corporate social responsibility. My primary focus has been the Russian Federation but I have also conducted research in China, Africa and also the UK. Papers emanating from this research have covered a wide spectrum examining not only firm behaviour, but also non-profits and the regulatory environment.
