Biography
An experienced senior manager in both the public and private sectors dealing with a full range of strategic, people management and HR issues in large complex organizations of over 8000 employees being responsible at corporate level for senior management training in strategic issues including facilitating senior management groups through major re-organization including the rationalization of over 4000 jobs from 7 departments into 16 services, including TU negotiations.
Achievements include developing corporate policies on Harassment, Work/Life Balance and Sickness Absence, and was Instrumental in developing and rolling out a Local Authority policy on Customer Service in the mid- 90s.
Lead writer on the development of an Appraisal system for managers, and was lead officer for IiP in two Local Authorities.
Founded the Equalities Steering Group.
Report writer on a wide range of issues in Local Government for Elected Members, Senior Management and service clients. Topics include:

Involved in two large-scale organizational change initiatives which were designed to radically alter the concept of service delivery.
Responsible for training managers and staff in new departments to understand, cope with, and manage change.
Management Appraisal integrated into organizational culture to achieve continued effective delivery of services.
Linked the notion of becoming a 'Learning Organization' with the achievement of the Investors in People Award corporately.
Developed and led senior management teams providing development centres, individual coaching and psychometric analysis, and developed and led Assessment centres including Group observations, decision making, problem solving, presentations, psychometric analysis and interviews for the appointments of Directors and Assistant Directors, and two Chief Executives.
Delivered a major Customer Service initiative for RMBC which won national acclaim and developed key ‘Best Value’ indicators for
Became a full-time lecturer in the Faculty of Business and Informatics in September 2005, having been a part-time lecturer on the MSc in HRM for 10 years previously. Teaching on a wide range of management programmes at levels 6 and 7. Currently Director of Undergraduate programmes (International Strategic and People Management) having been Programme Leader for Grad Cert HRM and Grad Cert Management for 3 years.
