Dr Francine Morris

Francine is a lecturer in People Management. She has experience in the insurance industry and within the retail sector. Francine was awarded her PhD in Business and Management from the University of Manchester. This research explored age norms in large UK organisations in the public and private sectors. She also has an Masters degree in Human Resource Management and Industrial Relations also from Manchester Business School, a BA(Hons) in Business Management and a Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education. She is currently a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and an Academic Member of the CIPD. She has presented her research at various academic conferences, most recently in December 2015 at the CIPD/Warwick Business School conference at The Shard in London.
I am currently the module leader on International Human Resource Management which is a final year option and teach postgraduate level Employment Relations for the Masters Human Resource Management and Development programme.
I am interested in the application of intersectionality theory in the fields of careers, inequality and diversity, in particular, the role of age/life course and how persisting norms intersect with other more dominant forms of inequality in UK organisations.
I would be interested in supervising future doctoral students in the general areas of:
employment relations, careers and human resource management (domestic and international). In particular I am interested in age barriers in careers and non-linear transitions into the labour market.
