Dr Daiga Kamerade

Lecturer in Organisational Behaviour and Human Resource Management

Biography

I am an experienced lecturer in psychology, organisational behaviour and human resource management and have been teaching at various universities in the UK and abroad for more than ten years. My passion for teaching has earned me two teaching excellence awards.  I joined the University of Salford in 2010 as a lecturer in Organisational Behaviour and Human Resource Management having previously worked as an ESRC postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Manchester. I hold a PhD and MPhil from the University of Cambridge.  I have been involved in HRM, training and development, data collection and analysis consultancy work for numerous private and public organisations, including medium size insurance companies, small manufacturing businesses, broadcasting organisations, a trade union and large European Union agency.

Teaching

My current role and responsibilities involve teaching Employee Development and Organisational behaviour modules for undergraduate students and various components related to human resource management and organisational behaviour in modules taken by postgraduate students in Salford Business School.  I also supervise postgraduate dissertations.

Research Interests

Broadly speaking I see myself as a labour market and employment researcher with strong quantitative skills and extensive experience of using large and complex data sets. The current focus for my research interest is on volunteer workforce management, changing nature of voluntary work in third sector organisations, and the effects of volunteering on employability. I also welcome postgraduate dissertations focused on learning, training and development in organisations or the effects of the Big Five personality traits on entrepreneurship and employment.
