Salford Business School shortlisted for Times Higher Education award
Salford Business School has been shortlisted for Times Higher Education’s Business School of the Year award in recognition of its sector-leading work in creating a global innovation eco-system that accelerates its graduates’, entrepreneurs’ and business partners’ success.
The Times Higher Education (THE) Awards are the leading awards showcasing excellence in the UK higher education sector and it is the second year in a row in which Salford Business School has made the shortlist.
The School’s innovation in an industry-engaged student experience and its unique approach to flexible, postgraduate lifestyle learning, together with its research expertise in digital business, small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) acceleration, social enterprise and sports business has been applauded globally and can recently be illustrated through its exciting new partnership with the Manchester United’s legendary Class of ’92.
Crucially, the Business School appreciates the significant role it can play in promoting economic growth through working with businesses in the region. The School’s strength in this area led to the University of Salford being rated first in the North West and fifth in the UK for small and medium enterprise (SME) engagement in a report into universities and economic growth produced by Sir Andrew Witty for national Government in October 2013.
The Business School has also received the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills and Association of Business School’s Small Business Charter award for its dedication to improving links with the SME community in the local area.
Professor Amanda Broderick, Dean of Salford Business School, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to be recognised again by the THE Awards as one of the UK’s leading business schools and particularly for the work we do in giving our students the best possible chance to succeed in their chosen career and for our trail-blazing engagement activities with SMEs.
“Our recently announced partnership with the Class of ’92, involving their many business concerns and Salford City Football Club, is the latest example of the innovative and exciting projects we’re involved in which offer unique opportunities for our students and support important organisations and businesses in the community.”
THE Awards 2014 winners will be announced on Thursday 27 November at an event for more than 1,000 guests held at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, London.
