Biography

I am currently a Senior Lecturer in Buildings Retrofit, where I have a number of active research projects, including a large scale monitoring study with the Department of Energy and Climate Change and the FP7 Project SEEDS. I have been involved in 9 successful project bids, including 4 KTPs. I am part of the Applied Buildings and Energy Research Group, which is a multi-disciplinary team looking at issues of energy use and its outcomes in buildings. I sit on the Manchester Buildings Group, Chair the Retrofit Innovations Group and am a member of the Zero Carbon Hub and National Refurbishment Centre.

Previously (2008-2010), I was the Manager of the Salford Centre for Research and Enterprise, a funded EPSRC research centre looking at the delivery of value in construction, as well as being leader of the Housing Application Area. Prior to this (2002 – 2008), I worked in the Centre for Construction innovation, the School of the Built Environment’s Enterprise Centre, where I developed and delivered a range of projects and product streams. Key projects were Constructing Excellence in the North West, which delivered more than 1000 training days, and the North West Sustainable Construction Policy. In addition, I developed services including the KPI Engine, Sustainability training and partnering workshops.
