Biography

I joined the University of Salford in 2013 as a Lecturer in Building Surveying.  Having qualified as an architect, I have spent most of my career engaged with practice working in architectural design practices in Germany, Ireland and the USA.  More recently, following a period of time working in the housing section of a local authority, I moved into higher education in the Irish Institute of Technology sector. I lectured in architecture and construction technology among other subjects before taking on a Head of Department role in Engineering and Construction.

My current role at the University of Salford involves lecturing on programmes in Building Surveying, Architectural Design Technology, Quantity Surveying and Construction Project Management.  My main subject areas include construction technology, building regulation and architectural design.

Teaching

I have lectured on modules in areas such as construction technology, facilities management, building services and architectural design practice on programmes in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Renewable Energy and Energy Management.  I have also been particularly engaged in multidisciplinary building project supervision.

Research Interests

I am pursuing research interests in the areas of building regulation as well as retrofit design.
