Biography
I joined the University in 1994 following a number of years in a large multi-disciplinary private practice and four years in academia.
I have led the BSc (Hons) programme in Property Management and Investment since it was launched in August 1994 and was instrumental in the expansion and leadership of the property programme portfolio with the launch of the MSc in Real Estate and Property Management (2002) – one of the first internet-based distance-learning masters level conversion courses in the country. I have also been external examiner at Sheffield Hallam University (2007-2011) and Glasgow Caledonian University (2007-2012).
Within the profession I have worked closely with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors including 10 years on the Facilities Management Faculty Board and 2 years as an NVQ assessor.
I am on the editorial boards of the Journal of Retail and Leisure Property and Territorio Italia.
Teaching
I currently lead the BSc (Hons) Programme in Property Management and Investment, a diverse programme centred on the commercial property market and the MSc in Real Estate and Property Management, a commercial property conversion course for non-cognate graduates. These courses are designed for students who wish to become professional members of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
My teaching interests focus particularly on theoretical and applied commercial property valuation and landlord and tenant law and practice.
