Biography
I am currently the programme director for the BSc (Hons) Quantity Surveying programme in the School of the Built Environment. I gained a first class BSc (Hons) degree in Quantity Surveying in 2001 and hold a PhD from the University of Salford in the area of construction process improvements. I am a Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy.
I have over 10 years of experience as an academic in the Higher Education sector both in the UK and in Sri Lanka. I am currently teaching Quantity Surveying related subject modules both at Masters and Undergraduate levels. I am also an experienced researcher within both the disaster management and collaborative environments subject domains. My research publications include book chapters, refereed journal and refereed conference papers and various high impact reports. I am active in competitive research bidding and am a co-investigator of the LLP funded BELLCURVE project and TEMPUS funded CENEAST project. During the last few years I have actively been engaged in organizing high profile research conferences at various international locations creating strong links with various Built Environment and Disaster Management experts and stakeholders. I am currently supervising number of PhD students at the University of Salford, and am engaged in conducting PhD assessments. I have been invited to conduct number of guest lectures at international academic and practitioner forums and facilitated number of doctoral training programmes both nationally and internationally and am very much keen to utilise my knowledge to create better collaborative environments to address teaching, learning and research needs in the field.
