Biography
I joined the University of Salford in December 2009 as a Lecturer in Quantity Surveying and Construction Economics, having previously practiced for some 30 years in various sectors of the construction industry.
I have contracting experience in the heavy engineering sector and I have practiced in a Central Government Agency and Local Authority on new build and refurbishment projects. In addition I have commercial experience in the development of airports and civil engineering facilities in the UK and overseas.
I have also practiced in the insurance sector as a Chartered Insurance Loss Adjustor.
Management experience has been acquired in the delivery of multi million pound refurbishment schemes in the social housing sector, procured under partnering arrangements.
I am currently studying for a professional doctorate.
Teaching
I am the undergraduate module leader for Construction Economics and Procurement and Administration.
My teaching also extends to Professional Practice, Construction Process Management and Economics and Management. I also supervise post graduate research.
Research Interests
My professional background is in industry and practice.
The focus for my current research is related to motivation of built environment professionals.
I also have research interests in procurement, construction economics and inspirational teaching.
