Office Times
It is not possible to fix a certain day of week or time when I am available because of my active participation in many UK and International BIM workgroups and conferences. If you want to meet me, please come to my office or send me an email and I will try to find an available time as soon as possible.
Biography
I started as a designing architect and made an extensive design career 1972-96 in one of the leading architect offices in Finland at that time. Since 1996 I have developed Integrated Building Information Modelling (BIM) both in Finland and internationally.
In 1996-2008 I worked at VTT (Technical Research Centre of Finland) and in 1997 Tekes (Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovation) invited me to lead the national BIM R&D programme that created the foundation for Finland’s position as one of the leading countries adopting BIM in the industry. In 2008-2010 I worked as the Vice President of Innovation and Development at Granlund, the leading Building Services Engineering company in Finland and in May 2010 I moved to my current position at the University of Salford.
Internationally my main activities have been related to the buildingSMART where I have acted in several leading positions 1998-2007; Chair and Deputy Chair of the International Council and Executive Committee and Chair of the International Technical Management Committee. In addition I have been the Chair of SCRI Steering Committee 2002-2009, member of Industry Advisory Board and Technical Advisory Committee of CIFE at Stanford University 1999-2005, member of the Scientific Committee of the ‘BuildingEnvelopes.org’ project at Harvard University 2001-2004, and member of scientific or organizing committees in over 20 international conferences. I have presented over 100 keynote and invited lectures in international seminars and conferences since 1996.
