SURFACE participates in first National Dementia Design conference

Friday 14 September 2012

Rita Newton has spoken at the first National Dementia Design conference at the University of Salford.

Along with Dr Andrew Clark of Salford’s Centre for Social Research, Rita presented at the fourth of the one-day conference’s sessions, on the theme of ‘getting out and about: neighbourhoods as sites of support for people affected by dementia’. Her talk drew on current research projects: Inclusive Design for Getting Outdoors (I’DGO); and Going Outdoors: Falls, Ageing & Resilience (Go Far).

I’DGO also exhibited at the event, which culminated in the launch of the International Dementia Design Network by Natalie Yates-Bolton and Go Far researcher, Ricardo Codinhoto.
