Malaysian delegate visit to the UK

A group of Malaysian delegates representing various government and public organisations visited Salford on a week’s programme, as part of the CLIMATISE (http://climatise.net/) research project. The delegates represented organisations such as Construction Industry Development Board Malaysia (CIDB), Disaster Management Agency, SP Setia Berhad Group, Department of Irrigation and Drainage, TIF3M Consortium, Civil Engineering & Urban Transport Department, JKR Malaysia, Peer Consultant Sdn Bhd, Hospital Raja Perempuan Zainab, and Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia.
The main activity of the visit was to attend a one-day seminar on 24th February at the University of Salford, MediaCityUK campus. The good practices to manage extreme weather events and their impacts were shared during the seminar from the UK and Malaysian speakers. A number of presentations were delivered by representatives from Salford City Council, Hospital Raja Perempuan Zainab, Malaysian Public Works Department, National Disaster Management Agency (Malaysia), UK Environmental Agency, Broughton Trust, Extremis Technology Ltd., AGMA Civil Contingencies and Resilience Unit: Greater Manchester Police Headquarters, Grantham Institute of the London School of Economics, and PEERS Consult Malaysia.
The Malaysian delegates met SoBE Malaysian students on 23rd February. PhD students shared their on-going work with the Malaysian delegates. Further, Malaysian delegates got to attend two site visits related to flood risk management in Salford.
