Prof. Hillier joined Corus (then British Steel) in 1998 and worked in Business Development before taking responsibility for the development of the company's strategy for construction. He is now co-ordinating the delivery of the strategy.

He has a strong background in materials and an interest in sustainable applications. His background covers manufacturing, planning and strategy in the gas turbine, chemicals, plastics, fertilizers and construction industries. He has a Metallurgy Degree, PhD and MBA.

In his current role he applies his materials, analytical and business skills to the challenges of the construction industry; with a particular interest in supply chain improvement, reduction in whole life costs and solutions that deliver more sustainable buildings.

He is a member of the Executive of the Steel Construction Institute.
