Professor Peter HibberdPeter Hibberd is Chairman of The Joint Contracts Tribunal (JCT), the leading organisation in the United Kingdom for the preparation of standard forms of contract for the construction industry. The JCT is based in London and since 1931 has brought together a diverse range of bodies in a spirit of partnership and co-operation to provide documentation for the benefit of the construction industry and its users.

Peter is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. He has extensive experience of the construction industry having worked both as a partner in private practice and as a director of a development/construction company before becoming a Professor of Construction Procurement in 1989. He has lectured extensively in the UK and abroad and has been an active researcher and research supervisor.

His main research interest is construction procurement and  building contract in particular. His previous research was directed towards the development of intelligent authoring of construction contracts and has carried out work with Professor Andrew Basden of the IT Centre at Salford in developing software to assist the understanding of the authoring process.

  • Joint author of ADR and Adjudication in Construction Disputes

He was also co-founder of the Journal of Construction Procurement.
