Online PhD receives honourable mention
An online postgraduate doctoral programme, delivered by the School of the Built Environment, has been recognised by the International E-Learning Association (IELA).
The MERIT programme, which launched in 2004 and is now known as the Online Doctoral Programme, gained "honourable mention" in the e-learning category of the 2012 International E-Learning Awards – Academic Division.
The annual awards recognise the best work in e-learning, mobile learning and blended learning. All submissions are evaluated by the IELA Awards Committee, who look for a variety of attributes, including educational soundness and effectiveness, usability and overall significance.
Professor Vian Ahmed, Director of MERIT, said: "I am delighted that the MERIT programme has gained this credit. We are proud that this programme has gained further international and academic recognition.
"The MERIT programme is in the process of gaining full approval to become the College of Science & Technology Online Doctoral programme from January 2013."
