SURFACE researcher presents at Universal Design Summit
SURFACE team member, Rachel Russell, has spoken at Universal Design Summit 5 (UDS5), the fifth national conference on universal design in housing and communities.
Speaking on the final day of the three-day event, Rachel drew on her background in occupational therapy, challenging the audience to consider how the concept of Building Information Modeling (BIM) could improve the housing modification process for designers and end users.
Her session highlighted PhD research undertaken at SURFACE, funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) and showcased at the University's SPARC conference in May 2012.
UDS5 was held at St Louis University in Missouri, USA, and included site visits to exemplar projects, including Habitat for Humanity St Louis, 6 North Apartments and Citygarden.
