Rita Newton presents at Ending Isolation Through Design
SURFACE researcher, Rita Newton, has spoken at an event on the links between the planning and design of the outdoor environment, active ageing and older people’s social engagement.
Ending Isolation Through Design was held by the Inclusive Design for Getting Outdoors (I'DGO) consortium, of which SURFACE is a member, together with Age Scotland and Planning Aid for Scotland.
Attracting a full house of around 50 delegates, half of them from older people’s groups across Scotland, the event was opened by Sarah Boyack MSP, who spoke of the importance of I'DGO’s work. Rita’s talk drew on findings from both phases of I'DGO, as well as progress on current research project, Go Far.
