Our new building is home to a futuristic Digital Performance Lab. Built to facilitate ground breaking digital media research and teaching, visitors experienced the space for themselves.

3 D sound: The very latest 3D immersive sound technology truly brought senses alive as visitors were transported to an arctic world.
Augmented reality:
Visitors viewed and interacted with the work of Salford’s world-renowned lecturers - pioneering the art and science of augmented reality.

Two telematic installations called 'Picnic’ in the Park’ and 'Room'

These two art installations used a branch of science that transmits information over long distances connecting audiences in the Digital Performance Lab to another space. Visitors sat on the sofa in the room and other people in another space appeared to be sitting on the same sofa with them. It was an uncanny, humorous performance that gave the magical appearance of being with someone who isn't actually there.

Green Eyed Zero presented their touch screen installation allowing the audience to play with this infra-red and computer programmed technological interface.

Craig Vear also installed his sound work as an immersive sonic experience delivered through headphones.
