Groups & Collaborations

CCM is characterised by an engagement with the social operations of culture and media. We have established a number of collaborative research groups, which in practice are flexible and dialogic:

  • Screen media and media practice - from European film and national culture to film/radio broadcast practice, through to television and (future) media technologies (Blaker, Fairclough, Goddard, Halligan, Hope, Jones, Knudsen, Lee, Mundy, Palmer, Willis)
  • Media and cultural studies - post-subcultures, popular music, community and local cultures, media and cultural history / policy, journalism, theory (Archetti, Birchall, Buse, Goddard, Halligan, Harker, Jones, Lee, McKay, Moore, O'Reilly, Wolfenden)
  • Digital media - inherently interwoven with above, but also some key areas of exploration and critical innovation, including gaming, social media, technology, open source, policy (Ali, Goddard, Light, Lin, Murphy, Simpson).
