Communication, Cultural and Media Studies Research Centre
Communication, Cultural and Media Studies Research Centre (CCM)
CCM is one of the largest research centres dedicated to media work in the UK, with 22 academic members, and over 40 PhD students from around the world.
'World-leading' research
According to RAE 2008, 90% of CCM research is of international standard, of which 15% is evaluated as 'world-leading'. We are also the leading media research group in the northwest of England and ranked 13th in the UK.
Media activity thrives at Salford, in terms of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, our industry links and public engagement work, as well as our research. Now based at MediaCityUK we are outstandingly placed to continue making a leading contribution to the development of academic research in the media and creative economy.
CCM aims to raise the profile of existing research and facilitate new projects between film and media studies, cultural studies, digital media, and practice. The centre moves across the school boundaries of the university generating a dynamic multi-disciplinary research culture. Our academic members and postgraduate students produce high quality research, and energetically engage and collaborate with regional communities, national media industries and international research networks.
As our Projects page and links show, our grant proposals are regularly reviewed as of the very highest quality and therefore funded by national and international research councils. And do take a look at our Publications page, which contains details of well over 60 major outputs in the form of books, films, radio documentaries, as well as open access links to over 250 outputs on the university's institutional repository.
