Supporting arts and enterprise skills in communities through creative engagement with the local area

AHRC Knowledge Transfer Fellowship, (Paul Haywood and Team.) 2009-12.

Using contemporary visual art as a catalyst for the reinterpretation of industrial heritage

The project aims to use contemporary art to explore ways in which the abandoned Parys Mountain Copper Mine and Amlwch Industrial Heritage Centre in Amlwch, Anglesey, North Wales, can be interpreted in order to promote cultural engagement and economic development. It has been developed through an “Artist At Work” award from Artworks Wales in 2007, and will involve collaborative working with major partners, galleries and museums, implemented over 30 months through a linked series of events, exhibitions, and a publication.
