Partnerships and Developments
The School is rapidly expanding its portfolio of international partnerships, developing new and existing networks and opportunities for exchange and collaboration across the world. Every partnership is different, and each contributes to the evolution of a distinctive character and identity within its subject area, whilst enriching the overall culture and experience of the School.
Our partnership activities include delivery of dual-award programmes with international partners, teaching in country, and international collaborative teaching and research projects. These provide opportunities for student exchange and, over time, will grow to include joint programmes and projects, and learning with fellow students the world over, in person through exchange and via the internet and associated distance learning technologies.
For example, we are in the process of establishing a Joint College in China, with the Zhejiang Textile and Fashion College in Ningbo, which, besides offering dual award programmes, will provide large numbers of students with opportunities for overseas study, internships and access to industry in one of the world’s leading markets. Other partners, with whom we have or are developing an extensive range of activities and opportunities, include RMIT (Australia), TARUC and MDeC (Malaysia), GAFA and LAFA (China), Al-Zahra (Oman), and several colleges and universities in the USA, South America and Europe.
In a number of cases where we offer subject teaching with our overseas partners in joint programmes or dual-awards, this also include automatic progression to further study on one of our programmes in Salford. For example, you could progress onto a subject specific degree programme from our international foundation; from Diploma level onto the final year of an undergraduate degree; or from successful completion of an undergraduate degree onto a one-year Master’s programme. In many cases these can be combined, and include fee reductions for students taking up automatic progression opportunities.
