The Creative Media Directorate enjoys an outstanding reputation for our innovative, practice-based, programmes.

In Creative Media we emphasise the integration of industry practice within the curriculum and also offer discipline-specific and inter-disciplinary programmes relevant to employers in the media industries.

This has helped our graduates gain careers across an impressive range of creative media organisations. In addition, our student productions regularly receive Royal Television Society awards.

Our researchers create a dynamic and responsive environment, bringing together academics working across the arts, media, and creative industries. In addition, Graduate Teaching Assistantships offer research students the opportunity to teach whilst completing their PhD.

The University of Salford is one of only 19 UK universities to gain Skillset Media Academy status, defining it as a centre for excellence for media education.The Creative Media Directorate has been instrumental in gaining this accolade. 

Creative Media works with the International Media Centre to develop links with overseas institutions and organises the prestigious annual Nations and Regions Media Conference where professional industry figures and academics debate contemporary issues within broadcasting and digital media.

The directorate is based at the world class MediaCityUK facility. This offers a unique opportunity for collaboration with students and colleagues in order to establish the University of Salford as the international centre of excellence for media, creative arts & technologies, and the digital economy.
